Overview

University Radiology, the largest provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services in NJ, is comprised of over 200 Board Certified radiologists with advanced U.S.-based training and expertise in all modalities and all subspecialty areas. In operation for more than 60 years, University Radiology staffs, manages and provides preliminary and final subspecialty interpretations and consultative support for hospitals, imaging centers and other medical facilities, and serves as the academic radiology faculty at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Our physicians interpret over 2.1 million radiology procedures per year.

Responsibilities

University Radiology is looking for a Part Time Medical Scheduler for our East Brunswick, NJ Business Office.

  • Answers a high volume of calls, working towards the goal of about 9/10 calls per hour in a professional manner.
  • Able to schedule appointments for all modalities; including but not limited to MRI, CT, PET, X-Ray, Ultrasound, Mammo, etc.
  • Schedules and reschedules for all imaging offices, making every effort to keep the workload even between all locations.
  • Makes sure the supporting signs and symptoms match the ordered exam. Refers to an office technologist for assistance if needed.
  • When calling the patients:
    • Makes certain that the patient understands the necessary preparations
    • Informs them of the need for any necessary lab tests
    • Confirms with the caller the office location/address they are scheduled at.
  • Obtains insurance information and is familiar with the requirements of all insurance companies
  • Makes the patient aware of the potential need for referrals and/or pre-certification if needed for an appointment.
  • Keeps informed about the changing requirements of insurance companies.
  • Able to navigate the platform Insurance Matrix to determine which plans we participate with.
  • Documents the patients record with notes supporting the conversation.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Knowledge of simple anatomy (e.g. lungs, forearm, abdomen)
  • Knowledge of insurances and precertification
  • Strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to work independently in a high call volume
  • Good in a fast paced work environment
  • Team player who can contribute to providing a positive and professional work environment

Pay Range:

From $20/hr
