University Radiology, the largest provider of subspecialty radiology and teleradiology services in NJ, is comprised of over 180 Board Certified radiologists with advanced U.S.-based training and expertise in all modalities and all subspecialty areas. In operation for more than 60 years, University Radiology staffs, manages and provides preliminary and final subspecialty interpretations and consultative support for hospitals, imaging centers and other medical facilities, and serves as the academic radiology faculty at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Our physicians interpret over 2.1 million radiology procedures per year.

 

University Radiology is looking for a full-time Credit/Refund Specialist for our East Brunswick, NJ Business Office

 

Monday - Friday 8:00 am - 4:30 pm

Responsibilities

Overview:  The Refund Specialist will assist Patient Financial Services in the handling of patient  accounts with credits, the Refund Specialist will review and research overpayments on accounts until resolution. Daily trending and analysis will be completed along with explanations of challenges, root causes and recommendations for resolutions.

  • Contacts the payer and/or patient for overpayment resolution, if applicable
  • Determine if patient overpayment should be applied to an existing account
  • Review and request refunds for patients and /or insurance companies.
  • Enter detailed notes in the Patient Accounting system regarding the overpayment and refund
  • Review and understand payer contracts as related to payer overpayments
  • Identify root cause to credit balances and variances
  • Communicate payment status to Agencies
  • Complete weekly spread sheet to track issued refunds and causes
  • Must be able to work in a high volume, fast pace work environment
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Must be able to work as part of a team therefore maintains a professional and positive work environment, including healthy work relationships with coworkers supporting each other, strong moral beliefs and shares positive energy
  • Ability to learn quickly and accurately and toggle to and from different host and billing systems
  • Understands not only the payment posting work flow but also the revenue cycle as a whole and the impact the individual has in the organization
  • Effective at meetings - providing feedback, ideas and suggestions to improve the office day to day and moral
  • Performs other related duties when necessary and tasks assigned by management
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

Qualifications

  • Enhanced Knowledge of Microsoft Office Applications (Work, Excel, Outlook)
  • Knowledge of insurance contracts & reimbursement (Commercial, Managed Care, Medicare, Medicaid, No Fault, Workers Comp)
  • Knowledge of Insurance Websites
  • Organizational skills
  • 2+ years experience in revenue office as payment poster, collector or refund specialist
